Two terrorists linked to the terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were killed in retaliatory firing after they fired on the security personnel of the Army and the police when they tried to intercept a suspected vehicle in the Budgam district. Arms and ammunition were recovered, the Jammu and Kashmir Police has said.
The slain terrorists have been identified as Arbaaz Mir and Shahid Sheikh of Pulwama linked with the proscribed terror outfit LeT. Both the terrorists earlier escaped from a recent encounter, the Additional Director General of Kashmir Police said.

An Army official said soldiers set up a mobile vehicle checkpoint at Budgam following information about the movement of terrorists in the area.
“A cab was signaled to stop for the check but the terrorists inside opened fire on the security forces, which was retaliated,” the official said.
Earlier on January 15, an encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Based on a specific input about presence of terrorists in Redbugh area of Magam in the central Kashmir district, security forces launched a cordon and search operation there, a police official said.

He said the search operation turned into an encounter after terrorists fired upon a search party of the forces, which retaliated.
The exchange of fire was underway, but there were no reports of any casualty on either side so far, the official said.
Kashmir-Born Ahmad Ahanger Who Heads Islamic State Recruitment Cell For India Declared ‘Terrorist’
The Union government on Wednesday declared the Kashmir-born Aijaz Ahmad Ahanger alias Abu Usman Al-Kashmiri, who is the head of the Islamic State (IS) recruitment cell for India, as a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
The Srinagar-born terrorist is currently based in Afghanistan and is one of the chief recruiters of Islamic State Jammu and Kashmir (ISJK).
He has been designated as an individual terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, the Union Home Ministry declared through a notification.
The Ministry of Home Affairs in its notification said, “Ahmad Ahanger alias Abu Usman Al-Kashmiri is involved in terrorism and he is to be added as a terrorist under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967”.
