By Sagay Raj: A 26-year-old man was arrested for raping and murdering a 3-year-old toddler in Bengaluru on Tuesday night. According to the police, the accused was under the influence of marijuana when he committed the crime.
The incident occurred under the Kamakshipalya police limits in South Bengaluru on Tuesday evening and the accused was arrested a few hours later.
The deceased toddler was being taken care of by a single mother who was living alone. She also had an illicit relationship with the accused for a year and she used to go to work in a garment factory.
The accused used to take care of the baby for the past year when the mother was away at work. However, on Tuesday night, under the influence of marijuana, the 26-year-old man sexually abused and murdered the toddler.
A case was registered under Sections 376 and 402 of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and the 26-year-old accused was arrested around 7 pm on Tuesday night..
According to police sources, the accused was under the influence of marijuana when he committed the crime.
According to a message from the Deputy Commissioner of Police, South Bengaluru, “The place of the offence was near the Nandgokul government school, Kaveri Nagar, Kamaskshipalya. The accused is 26 years old and was arrested at 7 pm. He was known to the victim.”
