Soon, Anees was quoted saying that he had a round of discussions around Hera Pheri 3 with producer Firoz Nadiadwala, however he chose to opt out as he was not convinced with the story. “Firoz Nadiadwala didn’t have a story, let alone a script,” he was quoted saying.
The Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 director however tweeted a clarification saying that he has been misquoted. “My words have been recently misquoted and wrongly interpreted regarding the announcement of Hera Pheri 3. I am very happy for the entire team of Hera Pheri for their third film together and I wish @akshaykumar @SunielVShetty @SirPareshRawal & #firoznadiadwala all the love & luck (sic),” he wrote.

Talking about Akshay Kumar returning to the project, Anees said in the interview that he has no idea how and why Akshay, who was totally opposed to doing the film without a proper script, has agreed to come on board.
The latest buzz in the grapevine also suggests that Sanjay Dutt has been roped in to play the villain in the film. Reportedly Sanjay has signed the dotted line and he’ll be playing one of the antagonists in the film. His character will be blind and quirky that will add to the madness quotient of the Hera Pheri series.
