The EXTER is likely to compete in the sub 4 metre compact SUV segment, which has been seeing a lot of action with models such as the Tata Punch and the more recent arrival of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. It can further be assumed that the EXTER will feature a high ground clearance and the design will be based on Hyundai’s ongoing Sensuous Sportiness design philosophy. Just like other SUV offerings from the automaker, the new EXTER too could get slim plastic claddings around the wheel arches, floorboards and the front and rear bumpers.

Inside, Hyundai products are well endowed with tech features. The EXTER can be expected to feature touchscreen infotainment with the BlueLink connectivity suite. Other features such as climate control, ambient lighting and navigation could be on board as well.
Currently, the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Aura are the most affordable cars by the automaker in India, if the EXTER is positioned above them, then it is possible that it offers the same 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine that powers the Nios and Aura. This engine is a 4-cylinder unit that produces 81.8 hp and 113.8 Nm of Torque.
