By Devika Bhattacharya: In less than a week, the BJP on Tuesday convened a parliamentary party meeting in Delhi amid the ongoing Winter Session of Parliament.
The meet was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and prominent MPs and party honchos including national president JP Nadda, defence minister Rajnath Singh, foreign minister S Jaishankar, parliamentary affairs minister Pralhad Joshi among others.
The get-together of BJP MPs, the second in the span of a week, comes as the government is facing fire in Parliament from Opposition lawmakers on the issue of the recent face-off between Indian and Chinese soldiers along the LAC in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang sector.
The Winter Session has so far been a washout, with very little business transacted owing to Opposition MPs disrupting house proceedings and staging walkouts when their demands to discuss the India-China border clash were not allowed.
The saffron party last called a parliamentary party meeting on December 14, where top leaders indulged in mutual back-patting over the BJP’s historic win in the recently concluded Gujarat Assembly polls.
That meeting saw PM Modi being felicitated for the record breaking victory in Gujarat. The Prime Minister, in turn, showered praise on the state unit, especially its president CR Paatil, and said the win is owed to the BJP’s organisational strength and its workers.
GALA DINNER POST GUJARAT WIN
CR Paatil has organised a dinner in the national party this evening to celebrate the BJP landslide win in the Gujarat Assembly election, news agency ANI reported.
All MPs from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) along with their spouses have been invited to the banquet, which will be held at the Delhi Gymkhana club.
Top brass of the BJP including Prime Minister Narendra Modi are expected to attend the dinner.
