Liquor worth Rs 9 crore sold in Noida on New Year’s Eve, 23% more than 2021

Noida saw a massive sale of liquor on New Year’s Eve. Over Rs 9 crores worth of liquor was sold on December 31.

By Manish Chaurasiya: Noida in Uttar Pradesh recorded a total liquor sale of over Rs 9 crore on New Year’s Eve, 23 per cent higher than last year, statistics by the Excise department revealed. Around Rs 139 crore of liquor was sold in the whole month of December.

These liquors include country liquor, foreign liquor and beer. The record-breaking liquor sales have increased revenue. The reason behind this is believed to be the effect of two years of muted festivities due to Covid-19.

‘More than 2 lakh liters of liquor consumed’

The residents of Gautam Budh Nagar consumed 2,30,000 liters of liquor on December 31 i.e. during New Year celebrations. According to the Excise Department, the residents of the city drank liquor worth more than Rs 9 crore on December 31.

Also, the department has taken action on the sale of illegal liquor. The Excise Department seized 2,512 liters of liquor in December 2022.

’82 occasional licenses, 550 liquor shops’

Gautam Budh Nagar’s Assistant Excise Commissioner RB Singh said that the city has 98 bar licenses, around 82 occasional licences, 140 foreign liquor, 138 beer shops, 25 model shops, 231 country liquor shops and 15 premium retail vendor shops.

There are about 550 liquor shops in Gautam Budh Nagar. People of the city have partied with an occasional license at 82 different locations. Due to which, the revenue has increased and the consumption of liquor has increased a lot. According to the data received from the Excise Department, these 82 people had applied for an occasional license for 1-3 days. Considering all the standards, the Excise Department collected the revenue by taking a fee of Rs 11,000 for one day. The Excise Department has received revenue of more than Rs 10 lakh by taking occasional license.
