By Satender Chauhan: Punjab Vigilance Bureau nabbed a senior employee of Sewa Kendra while taking a bribe of Rs 15,000 instead for making death certificate.
Arvind Chakshu, senior operator of Seva Kendra Barnala and another man named Satwinder Singh alias Satpal Singh were caught red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 on Tuesday, during a drive against corruption in the state by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau.
According to a spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau, “the two accused have been arrested on the complaint of a complainant named Gurmail Singh.” Giving other details, he said that the complainant had approached the Vigilance Bureau alleging that the said senior employee and his accomplice, a private person, were demanding a bribe of Rs 15000.
The Vigilance Bureau spokesperson further added, “After probing the complaint, the Vigilance Bureau team laid a trap and nabbed both the accused, Arvind Chakshu and Satwinder Singh, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 in the presence of two government witnesses.
“Further proceedings have been initiated against the two accused by registering a case against them under the Prevention of Corruption Act at Vigilance Bureau Police Station, Patiala,” added the spokesperson.
