By India Today Web Desk: After two peeing incidents were reported mid-air on Air India flight, bringing the cabin crew under heavy criticism, the airline CEO told the staff to report any improper behaviour on aircraft. Air India CEO Campbell Wilson has told the airline staff to report such incidents even if the matter appears to have been settled, reported news agency PTI.

The statement of the CEO comes after another peeing incident was reported on Thursday as a drunk man allegedly urinated on a female passenger’s blanket on a Paris-New Delhi Air India flight on December 6.

In an internal communication to airlines’ employees, he reflected on the urinating incident to say that ‘the repulsion felt by the affected passenger is totally understandable and we share her distress.

“Whilst the story is more complicated than has been reported, there are clearly some lessons we can and must learn.

“Most importantly is that, if an incident on our aircraft involves improper behaviour of such magnitude, we must report it to authorities at the earliest opportunity, even if we genuinely believe that the matter has been settled between the parties involved.

“The same applies in the case of passengers deemed to meet the threshold of ‘unruly’,” he said.

PEEING INCIDENTS ON AIR INDIA FLIGHT

On November 26, a drunk passenger allegedly unzipped and urinated on a co-passenger in the business class of an Air India flight from New York to Delhi. The distressed woman said little action was taken by Air India, prompting her to write a letter to Tata Group Chairman N Chandrashekaharan to share her horrific experience. The incident was reported on Wednesday.

The woman passenger who is in her seventies, in the letter, also highlighted that when asked for a change of seat, “the airline refused and informed her there were no seats available”. She also complained about being allotted a small seat used by the airline staff, by one of the senior stewardesses.

Ten days after the shocking November 26 urinating incident on Air India flight, another episode of a drunk male passenger allegedly urinating on a female passenger’s blanket was reported on the Paris-Delhi sector.

But there was no penal action after he gave a written apology, officials told PTI.

This incident happened on December 6, on Air India flight 142, and the pilot of the aircraft reported the matter to the Air Traffic Control (ATC) at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, following which the male passenger was apprehended, they said.

The flight landed around 9:40 am on December 6 at Delhi and the airport security was informed that the male passenger was “under the influence of alcohol and he was not following the instructions of the cabin crew and he later peed on a blanket of an onboard lady passenger”, airport officials told PTI.
