By India Today Web Desk: As details of the Shraddha Walkar murder case continue to unfold, as per the sources, the accused, Aaftab Ameen Poonawala, had met some of Shraddha’s friends in Mumbai after the murder and had cooked up a story about their break up so that people do not get suspicious.
Aaftab is accused of murdering his live-in partner earlier in May, chopping her body into 35 pieces and stuffing them in a fridge. He then scattered the pieces one by one across Delhi’s Mehrauli forest over a period of 16 days.
As per the Delhi Police sources in Vasai, Maharashtra, Aaftab used Shraddha’s phone by connecting it to Wi-Fi to chat with her friends so that no one was suspicious. He had already destroyed her SIM card after the murder.

Initially, a missing case was registered at the Manikpur Police Station on October 12 by Shraddha’s family. Aaftab was first called for questioning on October 20. However, his phone and other gadgets were not checked at the time. Meanwhile, the victim’s phone was being used till October 23. Aaftab disposed off her phone and other evidence near the Vasai Creek area before he was called for a second round of questioning on October 26.
On October 26, Manikpur police took Aaftab’s statement, however, it was an oral one in which he only talked about Shraddha’s leaving after a quarrel.
After the interrogation, the accused got alert. He returned to Delhi after November 4 and started destroying the rest of the evidence, including the weapon used in Shraddha Walkar’s murder.

AAFTAB UNDERGOES POLYGRAPH TEST
The remaining sessions of the polygraph test on Aaftab Amin Poonawala, accused of brutally killing his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar, got underway at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Rohini on Monday.
Poonawala has already undergone three sessions of the test, also known as the lie-detector test, the last being held for about three hours on Friday.
AAFTAB IN TIHAR JAIL
On November 26, Aaftab was sent to judicial custody for 13 days. Tihar jail PRO Dheeraj Mathur said Poonawala is in Tihar jail number 4. His prison number is 11529. He has been kept in a separate cell and is under 24-hour CCTV monitoring.
