Amid The Kashmir Files-IFFI controversy, Vivek Agnihotri announces The Kashmir Files Unreported: ‘I

Film director Vivek Agnihotri is furious with recent remarks made by Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid at the closing ceremony of IFFI. Amid the controversy, the filmmaker has now announced another film ‘The Kashmir Files Unreported’, ‘to bring out the whole truth’.

In an interview with a channel, Vivek said that he is determined now and and is keen on making an announcement. He added that as a filmmaker he has many stories, anecdotes, truths from which he could have made 10 films instead of one. But their entire team had decided to make only one film. He has now decided that he will bring out the whole truth and its title will be The Kashmir Files Unreported. “Aur yeh main isi saal ke andar andar leke aunga, yeh maine aaj drar nishchay karliya hai (I will bring it within this year, I am determined now),” he told AajTak.

Earlier this week, Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid called The Kashmir Files a “propaganda, and vulgar-shocking film”. The Israeli Filmmaker Nadav, in his address to the audience, was heard saying, “We were, all of us, disturbed and shocked by the 15th film: The Kashmir Files. That felt to us like propaganda, vulgar movie, inappropriate for an artistic competitive section of such a prestigious film festival”.

He further added, “I feel totally comfortable to share openly these feelings here with you on stage. Since the spirit of having a festival is to accept also a critical discussion which is essential for art and for life.”

Reacting to his remark, Vivek had shared a video on his social media handle where he was heard saying, “I challenge all these urban naxals and the legendary filmmaker who came from Israel, that if they can prove any single shot, event or dialogue is not completely true then I will quit filmmaking. Who are these people who stand up against India every time?”

Earlier this March, the film had a theatrical release and went on to break all box-office records. Helmed by Vivek Agnihotri, the film starring Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi, revolves around the killings of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990 from the valley. The film was received well by the audiences and critics in India.
