Former two-division world champion Aung La N Sang has been preparing for a possible fight with Fan Rong of China for some time now. He feels he has scouted him enough to be ready for their scheduled clash later this year.
The two fighters were set to battle twice before, with both falling through for various reasons. They are now set to collide at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video on May 5 in Colorado, U.S.A.
Having studied his opponent in the past, Aung La feels he has a better understanding of what Fan Rong will bring come fight night but knows all too well than to underestimate him.
“The Burmese Python” shared to SCMP MMA in an interview:
“I was supposed to fight him then they switched that to Leandro [Ataides] and then you know, last fight, they switched it to my last opponent so I’ve studied him twice now already but it is what it is. I expect the best Fan Rong. He has nothing to lose and a lot to gain, so that being said I expect the best Fan Rong and we’re gonna put on a show.”

Aung La, who once simultaneously held the ONE middleweight and light heavyweight world titles, last fought in January where he defeated Brazilian Gilberto Galvao by technical knockout in the opening round.
His opponent, “King Kong Warrior” Fan Rong, meanwhile, will be seeking to rebound after absorbing a loss in his previous fight.
ONE Fight Night 10 is the first-ever live on-ground event of ONE in the United States. It happens at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado. The event will be aired live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.
Aung La N Sang reveals what he thinks makes ONE Championship fights exciting for American fans
Burmese-American fighter Aung La N Sang is excited for ONE Championship’s initial foray into the United States later this year and expects it to do well in its push.
The former middleweight and light heavyweight world champion believes the promotion offers end-to-end action-packed fights that suit the taste of American fans.
Aung La shared to ONE Championship:
“ONE Championship is exciting because it forces fighters to work for the finish. We have yellow cards, no other promotion has yellow cards, and our fights aren’t scored by 10-9 rounds. It’s scored by the entirety of the fight. It makes it more interesting for sure. And the [Muay] Thai guys, they’re aggressive guys, they always look for finishes.”
Adding:
“The U.S. fans are in for a treat. The whole card, I don’t see any boring fights at all. It’s going to be a great show for sure.”
ONE will hold its first-ever live event in the US on May 5 at ONE Fight Night 10 in Colorado. It will be headlined by a trilogy fight between ONE flyweight world champion Demetrious Johnson and former division king Adriano Moraes.
Aung La is also part of the groundbreaking U.S. show, which will take place at 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado. He will collide with China’s Fan Rong in a middleweight bout.
Other ONE superstars billed to compete at ONE Fight Night 10 include Rodtang Jitmuangnon, Mikey Musumeci, Stamp Fairtex, Roberto Soldic, Sage Northcutt, Reinier de Ridder, Tye Ruotolo, Kairat Akhmetov and Jackie Buntan.
