By India Today Web Desk: Avalanche with a high danger level has been predicted by the Jammu Kashmir Disaster Management Authority (JKDMA) on January 30.
According to JKDMA, medium to danger level avalanches will likely occur above 1500 to 2500 m over the Bandipore, Ganderbal, Kupwara, Kulgam and Ramban districts of Jammu and Kashmir over the next 24 hours.
“People living in these areas are advised to take precautions and avoid venturing in the avalanche prone areas,” said teh JKDMA.

On January 14, another avalanche hit the district’s Gurez sector. That same day, two simultaneous avalanches hit the Sarbal area of Sonamarg in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal. There were no reports of any casualties in any of these avalanches.
However, two labourers of a construction company were killed when another avalanche hit Sarbal on January 12.
