By Suryagni Roy: West Bengal Congress leader Koustav Bagchi shaved off his hair and vowed to remain bald until he removes Mamata Banerjee from the CM post, minutes after a Kolkata court granted him bail. Bagchi was arrested today for his alleged comments against the Trinamool supremo.
Officers of Burtolla police station in Kolkata raided Bagchi’s residence in Barrackpore in North 24 Parganas district around 3.30 am, and arrested him after a few hours. He was produced before a court in the evening.
Bagchi was asked to furnish a bail bond of Rs 1,000 and the court set the date of hearing on April 5.

“Shaving off my hair is a mark of protest. Until I dethrone Mamata Banerjee, I will not grow my hair,” Bagchi told reporters after getting bail.
Earlier in the day, the Trinamool Congress slammed the Congress leader for his alleged defamatory statement, with senior minister Sashi Panja claiming that Bagchi should apologise if he has any conscience.
“Koustav Bagchi has made foul comments about a woman, a woman who is called Didi. We pray in front of Durga. A man felt like abusing a lady like Mamata Banerjee. Those who are quiet when a woman is being abused are also supporting it. Don’t support it, condemn the statement against a woman. If you have any conscience, apologise,” said Panja.
