Bengal: Vande Bharat Express pelted with stone again, train operations disrupted

Vande Bharat Express’s operations were disrupted and the train was compelled to halt for 10 minutes at Bolpur’s railway station.

By Anupam Mishra: In the span of a week, another incident of stone pelting on Vande Bharat Express came to the fore. The incident took place in West Bengal and stones were pelted at the C14 compartment of the train on Sunday. This is the third time that stones were thrown at Vande Bharat Express.

Due to the incident, Vande Bharat Express’s operations were disrupted and the train was compelled to halt for 10 minutes at Bolpur’s railway station, against a stoppage of merely two minutes.

No casualties have been reported due to the stone-pelting.

Authorities said that the investigation was underway and visuals showed police officials taking note of the incident. The incident took place before reaching Malda station after crossing the said station.

Previously, stones were pelted at the Vande Bharat Express connecting Howrah to New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal, preliminary investigation has revealed that the incident took place while the train was passing through Bihar. The BJP had demanded the intervention of the NIA to probe the incident.

The train was flagged-off virtually by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Howrah Railway Station on December 30.
