Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy has written a letter to Telangana Governor, Tamilsai Soundararajan, seeking information about Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s health.
In the letter, the BJP leader mentioned that he was concerned as the Telangana Chief Minister, KCR, had not been seen in public “for a few days”.
“Over the past couple of weeks, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has not been seen in public. There has been a veil of secrecy about his health. It was revealed a few days ago that he had a mild viral lung infection. Yesterday, suddenly a disclosure was, purportedly, made by his son and Minister Shri KT Rama Rao that his father has secondary (bacterial) infection of the lungs,” his letter read.
Reddy asked for details about the Telangana Chief Minister’s health to be made public, saying that people had the right to know about the same.
“Whenever there are instances of illness in a person holding such a high public office, regular health bulletins are put out by the hospital authorities and state government health officials. This is not to be seen in this instance,” Reddy wrote.
He further hinted at the possible secrecy around Chief Minister KCR’s absence from the public eye and said that Telangana CM’s son or the medical authorities should issue a bulletin in a bid to keep any misgivings and misinformation at bay.
Also, the BJP leader wrote, “As a son, KT Rama Rao has the right to brief about his father’s condition but in view of the pressure that K Chandrasekhar Rao was supposedly subjected to on the succession issue, and even otherwise, the people of Telangana have the right to be properly briefed about their Chief Minister, by competent medical authorities. This will put to rest any possible misgivings of neglect and inadequate or inappropriate care.”
