By Satyajeet Kumar: Jharkhand BJP MLAs protested in the Assembly on Tuesday and demanded chief minister Hemant Soren to clarify reports that the state’s employment policy will reserve up to 60 per cent of jobs for the underprivileged sections. The legislators argued that the reservation ignores the interest of the local unemployed.
The MLAs stormed the House wearing orange T-shirts when it opened at 11 am, raising slogans demanding the Chief Minister clarify his position.
The 60 per cent reservation for underprivileged sections would mean 26 percent of the seats will be reserved for Scheduled Tribes (ST), 14 per cent for Other Backward Classes (OBC) and 10 per cent each for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).

The BJP ministers said the policy is against the interest of the local unemployed people. They alleged that the government is taking unemployed people for a ride after it made a promise of 5 lakh jobs annually.
BJP MLA Manish Jaiswal said the policy should have been brought into the House first instead of a decision on it in cabinet.
House Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato adjourned the House at 11.30 till 12.30 pm and then later till 2 pm after his repeated pleas to allow the house to run smoothly were not heeded by the BJP MLAs.

When the House re-assembled at around 12.30 pm, BJP MLA Neelkanth Singh Munda sought a reply from the chief minister on the status of the 1932 Khatiyan based policy.
“The government should let us know what happened to the 1932 policy, what is the pre-2016 recruitment policy and what is 60-40. The BJP wants the chief minister to answer on this,” Munda said.
He added that the Opposition had raised the issue earlier too, as they got information that the government intends to implement the pre-2016 employment policy after the new policy was scrapped by the High Court. Munda said the government should bring the new policy before the assembly first.
