‘Bridge Will Facilitate Loot Of Jal-Jungle-Zameen’: Maha-Chattisgarh Tribal Protest Enters 14th

New Delhi: The members of tribal communities of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh are camping on state border for last 14 days and protesting against construction of a bridge across Indravati river. “With no basic facilities here,this will facilitate loot of Jal-Jungle-Zameen,” the members said as reported by the news agency ANI.

Tribal leader Lalsu Nogoti said that people from around 20 to 25 villages from Chattisgarh and Maharashtra are camping on the state border. He further said that construction of bridges only facilitate loot of ‘Jal-Jungle-Zameen’.

“People from 20-25 villages from Chhattisgarh & Maharashtra here.There are no basic facilities here even after 75 yrs of independence.Such bridges are only to facilitate loot of ‘Jal-Jungle-Zameen’.Protest began on Jan 4,we intend to protest indefinitely,” Nogoti said.

“As far as I know,it’s being built in Chhattisgarh’s area. With this people on Maha-Chhattisgarh border won’t face difficulty in commuting.I don’t think halting the construction is right.We’ll talk to people&emphasise why bridge is important: Shubham Gupta,” Asst Collector,Etapalli told ANI.
