Accolades have started pouring in for BTS’ Jungkook and his hit number ‘Seven’. The ‘golden maknae’ of BTS bagged two honours at the 2023 MTV EMA.
The 26-year-old singer won the Best Song award for ‘Seven’, which also features Latto and he also took home the Best K-Pop trophy, successfully establishing his dominance in the genre.Jungkook was nominated in three categories: Best Song for Seven featuring Latto, Biggest Fans, and Best K-Pop.
In the Best Song category, Jungkook was competing with – Doja Cat’s Paint the Town Red, Miley Cyrus’ Flowers, Olivia Rodrigo’s vampire, SZA’s Kill Bill and Taylor Swift’s Anti-Hero. While in the Best K-Pop category, the other nominations were FIFTY FIFTY, NewJeans, SEVENTEEN, Stray Kids and TOMORROW X TOGETHER
This big win comes close to the debut of Jugkook’s solo album ‘GOLDEN’, which was released on November 3. This extensive album features 11 tracks, showcasing Jungkook’s collaborations with Shawn Mendes, DJ Snake, Ed Sheeran, Major Lazer, and many others. The entire tracklist includes ‘3D’ (feat. Jack Harlow), ‘Closer to You,’ ‘Seven’ (Explicit Version feat. Latto), ‘Standing Next to You’ (feat. Major Lazer), ‘Yes or No,’ ‘Please Don’t Change’ (feat. DJ Snake), ‘Hate You,’ ‘Somebody,’ ‘Too Sad to Dance,’ ‘Shot Glass of Tears,’ and the Clean Version of ‘Seven’ (feat. Latto).
Apart from Jungkook’s big global wins, TXT won the Best Push Artist award at the 2023 MTV EMA .
Initially, the 2023 MTV EMA were to be hosted in Paris and Jungkook was to perform at the awards. But the event was canceled and it was confirmed via a statement which read, “The MTV EMAs are an annual celebration of global music. As we watch the devastating events in Israel and Gaza continue to unfold, this does not feel like a moment for a global celebration. With thousands of lives already lost, it is a moment of mourning.”
