The Election Fee of India (ECI) has introduced that bypolls for Asansol Lok Sabha seat and 4 meeting seats – one every in West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Maharashtra – can be held on April 12.

Bypoll to Asansol Lok Sabha seat, together with 4 meeting seats, can be held on April 12, the Election Fee of India (ECI) declared on Saturday.

The meeting seats the place bypolls can be held on April 12 are – Ballygunge (West Bengal), Khairagarh (Chhattisgarh), Bochaha (Bihar) and Kolhapur North (Maharashtra).

As per a notification by the EC, the notification for the bypolls can be issued on March 17. The final date of nominations is March 24, whereas the final date for withdrawal of candidates is March 28.

The counting of votes for the bypolls can be held on April 16.

BYPOLLS

The Asansol seat fell vacant after sitting MP Babul Supriyo resigned from the Lok Sabha in October of final 12 months citing variations with the BJP. He later joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC).

Ballygunge meeting seat in West Bengal, in the meantime, fell vacant after sitting MLA Subrata Mukherjee – a minister within the West Bengal authorities – died on November 4 final 12 months following a quick sickness.

Khairagarh meeting seat in Chhattisgarh was received by Devvrat Singh for the Congress within the 2018 meeting elections. The seat fell vacant after Singh, a four-time MLA and former MP, died of cardiac arrest in November of final 12 months on the age of 52.

Bochaha meeting seat in Bihar fell vacant after the demise of sitting MLA Musafir Paswan of the Vikassheel Insaan Get together (VIP) in November of final 12 months.

The bypoll on Kolhapur North meeting seat in Maharashtra, in the meantime, was necessitated by the demise of sitting Congress MLA Chandrakant Jadhav in December of final 12 months.
