The CBI has arrested a senior intelligence officer, working within the workplace of the Directorate Basic of GST Intelligence (DGGI) in Ghaziabad, for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 60 lakh, officers mentioned on Sunday.
A businessman had complained to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) about an alleged demand of Rs 1 crore by the officer to indicate favour to his father in an ongoing case in opposition to him, they mentioned. Following the grievance, the CBI registered a case in opposition to officer Mohit Dhankar for allegedly demanding the bribe, the officers mentioned.
“It was additional alleged that the accused demanded bribe of Rs 1 crore by means of non-public individuals/touts for exhibiting official favour to the complainant’s father in a case on the DGGI, Ghaziabad,” CBI Spokesperson RC Joshi mentioned.
He mentioned the company laid a lure and caught a personal particular person, Rakesh Sharma, accepting the bribe of Rs 60 lakh as first instalment on behalf of a public servant. Later, Dhankar was additionally caught, the officers mentioned. “Searches are being carried out as we speak on the premises of the accused,” Joshi mentioned.
