By India Today News Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday addressed a poll rally in Chumoukedima district on Friday to campaign for the February 27 Nagaland assembly election. PM Modi said BJP’s mantra for Nagaland has been – peace, progress and prosperity and this is the reason people’s trust in BJP is rising.

“BJP with the help of technology, has curbed corruption in the north-east. Under PM Kissan Saman Nidhi scheme, people are getting money directly in their bank accounts,” said PM Modi at the joint public rally of the BJP-NDPP ahead of the Nagaland Assembly elections.

Ahead of the rally, Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio felicitated PM Narendra Modi in Dimapur. The BJP-NDPP are the only two parties to have entered into a pre-poll alliance.

Hitting out at the Opposition, the prime minister said, “Congress leaders in Delhi never looked towards Nagaland, and never gave importance to stability and prosperity in the state. Congress always ran the Nagaland govt on remote control from Delhi. From Delhi to Dimapur, Congress indulged in familial politics.”

People of Nagaland are trusting the BJP government, he said.

“Today, the Central government is giving free rations to thousands of families in Nagaland. This is happening because we don’t consider the 8 states of the Northeast as ATMs as the Congress party did. For us, the 8 Northeast states are ‘Ashta Lakshmi’,” he said, listing out the work done by the ruling party.

GOVT HELPING NAGALAND YOUTHS

PM Modi mentioned the construction project which is underway to connect Kohima with railways. From tourism to technology and sports to startups, the government is helping the youth of Nagaland, he said.

He lauded the people of Tripura for helping the administration conduct a violence-free election.

“After so many years, there were no poll-related violence incidents in Tripura. This is because of the BJP government,” he said.

BJP president J P Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed election rallies in Nagaland over the past one week. The BJP-NDPP alliance will contest in all the seats of the 60-member House.
