Congress red-faced as MP Nakul Nath claims his rally drew more crowds than Bharat Jodo Yatra |

BHOPAL: Congress party on Tuesday was left red-faced after a video went viral in which party MP from Chhindwara constituency Nakul Nath is seen claiming that his rally has drawn more crowds than the original Bharat Jodo Yatra led by former AICC president Rahul Gandhi. What made it more embarrassing is that Nakul Nath is the son of Congress stalwart and former chief minister Kamal Nath.
At present Kamal Nath is the state Congress president.
It happened on Sunday when Nakul Nath led a sub-yatra of the Bharat Jodo March in his Lok Sabha constituency.
The seven-km march was from Barkuhi to Parasia in Chhindwara.
Addressing the large gathering in Parasia at the end of the march, Nakul Nath said, “Mein toh Rahul Gandhi ke saath poore Madhya Pradesh mein ghoom raha thha. Lekin, mein Parasia ke janta ko bolna chahta hoon ke Parasia Vidhan Sabha mein original Bharat Jodo se bhi jaada bheer hai. (I have been walking with Rahul Gandhi throughout Madhya Pradesh. But, I want to tell the people of Parasia that in Parasia assembly seat, the crowds are bigger than in the original Bharat Jodo yatra)”.
He further added, “Seeing your enthusiasm and love, I have gained five more kgs of blood in my body”.
State Congress media cell chief KK Mishra defended, “It is 100% correct that in Chhindwara, the Bharat Jodo sub-march led by Nakul Nath was well managed and drew a large number of people. But BJP is trying to make a parallel comparison between the original Bharat Jodo Yatra and the one in Chhindwara. It is the BJP’s political ill-effort and their fear is exposed”.
But BJP reacted with a different allegation.
Speaking to TOI, state BJP secretary Rajneesh Agarwal said, “Since the days of the 15-month Congress government in the state, there was news that all is not well between Rahul Gandhi and Kamal Nath. Now with Nakul Nath’s statement, that news is being proved. Plus, it is also a witness that Bharat Jodo Yatra was a flop in Madhya Pradesh. The sound of this comment of Nakul Nath will travel far”.
