It’s not just the coldest days in several parts of the world but also the holiday season when schools, colleges and offices take a break for Christmas and New Year. You might find yourself with time on your hands, so here is a romantic K-drama, The Interest of Love that premiered on OTT for the Christmas season on December 21. The first two episodes of this 16-part series are already up. Episodes air every Wednesday and Thursday.

Based on the novel Sarangui Ihae by author Lee Hyuk Jin, the series delves deep into a scandalous office romance with a backdrop of a bank. As a netizen writes, “It should have hearts racing this holiday season.”

The official trailer up on Youtube has already created a buzz with Mia Hernawati saying that it seems to promise “deep melodrama and (an) intense story. It made her curious and as the user writes, “can’t hardly wait to watch the drama.”

Based on the two episodes that are up, the series has already garnered a healthy rating of 7/10 on IMDb. The story is promising and centres around four men and women working at the KCU bank and getting entangled in a complicated romance as they discover how far they are willing to go for love.

There are several Twitter reviews up already. Harry tweeted that he started watching the series for “superficial reasons” but after watching the first episode, he feels he is “gonna enjoy the mess it’s gonna be.”

Ajivika tweeted that she liked the “vibe of this drama” The user describes it as “a proper romantic melodrama with bits of comedy.”

It’s still early days for the K-drama, but it seems positive that lovers of this genre are going to watch it. As Vikas Yadav’s review on moviesr.net sums up, “The problem with love is that it just happens. The heart doesn’t go for logic,” and this is amply demonstrated in the two episodes that are already up.

Moreover, as in a typical romance drama, the critic adds that “Characters say things they don’t mean, see someone together and draw inaccurate conclusions, and choose to break each other’s heart instead of sitting down and talking to one another. That might seem like your usual dose of love games, and the series does tread on a familiar path….What infuses life into the material is the decision to focus both on the personal and professional lives of the characters.”

It’s got charming performances and the star cast is great. And the two top stars, Yeon-seok and Ga-young work well together giving audiences plenty of good situational comedy and heartbreak that always seems to accompany love.

If you are a fan of K-dramas, begin watching this series. It seems promising.
