By India Today Web Desk: Even as Delhi Police continue to unearth gory details in the Najafgarh murder case, another information has come to light. Sources told India Today that Sahil Gehlot had married Nikki Yadav at Arya Samaj temple in Greater Noida in 2020.
Police have also recovered certificates related to Sahil and Nikki’s marriage during the remand, sources in the Delhi Police said.
Sahil Gehlot, 24, strangled his girlfriend Nikki on February 10, stuffed her body inside a refrigerator at his dhaba (eatery) in southwest Delhi. He then went off to marry another woman the same day, police said.
Since Sahil’s family was unhappy with their marriage, they fixed his wedding in December 2022 and hid from the girl’s family that Sahil had already married Nikki, reported news agency ANI, quoting sources in Delhi Police.
Meanwhile, Delhi police has arrested five people, including main accused Sahil Gehlot’s father.
“His father has also been arrested on the charges of helping him in the conspiracy,” police said.
Sources said that Sahil’s friends and family members were involved in plotting the murder with him. After questioning them, the Crime Branch arrested Sahil’s father, Virender Singh, his two brothers and his two friends. Virender Singh has been booked under Section 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code after officers found out that he was aware that his son had allegedly killed Yadav.
“Sahil’s father Virender Singh has been arrested after police found that he knew that his son had allegedly murdered Nikki. He has been booked u/s 120B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC. 4 others incl friend, cousin & brother of accused Sahil Gehlot arrested,” Crime Branch said.

The incident came to light on February 14, four days after the crime was committed, when Gehlot confessed to the crime in police custody and led police to the refrigerator in his eatery where the victim’s body was hidden.
According to the police, Sahil told police during the investigation that Nikki got to know about his wedding scheduled on February 10, which he had kept a secret.
An argument ensued between the couple in which Sahil allegedly strangled Nikki with a data cable kept in his car. With her body lying beside him, Gehlot deleted the data from Yadav’s phone and drove to his dhaba and dumped her body in a refrigerator.
The car used in the commission of crime has been seized by the police. Sahil was taken into custody on February 14, following which a Delhi court sent him to five-day police custody for further interrogation.
