By India Today News Desk: Several parts of Delhi-NCR woke up to light rain early Saturday morning, bringing respite from the humid weather. The national capital also witnessed cloudy skies and chilly winds. The Indian Meteorological department on Friday said that most parts of the country would witness rainfall accompanied with thunderstorms from March 17 to March 20.
According to the IMD, “Scattered to fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are likely over the Western Himalayan Region and Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan on March 17-20.”
“A fresh patch of clouds is approaching towards south Delhi, leading to the possibility of thunderstorms with light rain over south Delhi during the next 2 hours,” IMD said.
“Light to moderate intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of few places of Delhi (Akshardham, Palam, Safdarjung, Lodi Road, Vasant Vihar, R K Puram, IGNOU, Ayanagar, Deramandi), Yamunanagar, Narwana, Barwala (Haryana) Saharanpur, Deoband, Nazibabad, Kandhla, Bijnaur, Hastinapur, Chandpur (UP),” IMD predicted.
Ghaziabad too received light rain with high wind speed during the early hours on Saturday.
This comes as a relief as temperatures were abnormally high for almost one month. Maximum temperatures will dip by 3-5°C in different areas.
According to the weather department, the national capital is likely to see a generally cloudy sky with light rain on Saturday and for the next four to five days.
