Delhi Police arrested a man who stole at least 23,400 pieces of toothpaste and one mobile phone from a store in Lahori Gate.

The police recovered the stolen items from the thief.
By Tanseem Haider: Delhi Police arrested a warehouse worker who stole around 23,400 pieces of toothpaste and one mobile phone from a warehouse where he worked in Lahori Gate. The accused has been identified as Udhal, a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich.
He was arrested after a complaint was made by the warehouse owner Kunwarpal, a resident of Rang Mahal, Lahori Gate. A case of theft was registered regarding the theft of toothpaste of Close-up and Dabur-Red companies and one mobile phone from the godown of the complainant.
A police team visited the spot and near about 40 CCTV footages of the spot and nearby places/routes followed by the culprit and CDR of the suspect were checked and analyzed. The 23-year-old accused was arrested with the help of CCTV cameras and technical surveillance. The police recovered the stolen items from the thief.
During interrogation, the accused person Udhal aka Santosh confessed about his involvement in the present case of theft of packets of toothpaste i.e. Close-up and Dabur- Red company and the mobile phone. He further disclosed that he used to work as labourer in local area of Chandni Chowk, Delhi and about a couple of weeks ago, he joined as labourer at the godown of the complainant, through one Ranjan resident of Tilak Bazar.
He further revealed that, with time he won over the trust of his employer and made a plan to steal the stock toothpastes worth Rs. Lakhs from the godown. He was well aware that the owner often leaves the keys of godown, with a Chaiwala named Guddu, who runs a small tea-stall outside the godown. On November 20, during evening hours, in the absence of his employer, he took the key of the godown from Guddu, by pretending that he has to receive the next delivery and further has to transfer it.
After which, he loaded the stolen articles in two rickshaws hired by him and reached at ISBT, Kashmere Gate, Delhi, where he further transferred the articles in a private bus with the help of e-rickshaw pullers and departed to his native village with the stolen articles.
The accused further disclosed that he had kept the stolen articles in a room near his house in the native village and was planning to sell the same on wholesale or retail prices to make easy money, but he was apprehended by the police team.
