By India Today Web Desk: Abhishek Banerjee, the national general secretary of the All India Trinamool Congress, accused the Gujarat Police for arresting party’s national spokesperson Saket Gokhale twice in a span of three days.

“Democracy remains to be in shambles,” said Abhishek Banerjee as he took to his Twitter account to elucidate how the Gujarat Police arrested Saket Gokhale twice in a span of three days and how the Election Commission has surrendered to the BJP.

TMC leader Saket Gokhale was arrested on Tuesday by the cyber cell of the Ahmedabad police when he landed in Rajasthan’s Jaipur over a tweet endorsing an alleged fake news about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Morbi after a bridge collapse.

On Thursday evening, TMC MP Derek O’Brien tweeted that Saket Gokhale has been granted bail, adding the party is “always ready to fight the good fight”.

However, hours later, Gokhale, who remained in police custody till December 8, was arrested soon after he was granted bail, with Derek o’ Brien alleging that the TMC national spokesperson was being harrassed by the Gujarat Police.
