Unlike other industries, the agricultural industry is not restricted to a single commodity. It has a variety of commodities that, though different from one another, belong to this same big industry of Agriculture.

Animal and Animal Products

This category includes the production of meat including both red and white meat. This is one of the biggest commodities in the agricultural industry as it is proven a fact that meat of all kinds in the highest consumed commodity in the world. Eggs, egg products, and livestock also fall into this category of commodities.

Animal Feed

Although animal feed is a small commodity when it comes to the agricultural industry, it sure is an important one. Without proper animal feed, other commodities would fail to exist

Bakery and Confectioneries

This commodity accounts for a significant part of the agricultural activities. Bread being the staple diet of most communities; give bakeries an eminent role to play in this industry. Biscuits, cakes, cookies, etc are some of the important elements that fall into this category of commodities

Beverages

Alcohol, tea, coffee, wine are all part of this category. Beverages are seen as one of the pillars in the foundation of the agricultural industry. While some commodities make be restricted to certain parts of the world, beverages are not. Tea and coffee are two of the most common commodities used in every household.

Cereal

When one thinks of the agricultural industry, the first thing that comes to mind is the growing of cereal. Wheat, barley, rice, maize, pulses are some of the common cereals grown throughout the world. Rice accounts for a major portion of cereal growth as it is considered a very common staple diet in most communities of the world, especially Asian countries.

Dry Fruits

While some places excel in dried fruits agriculture, others still have a lot to learn. This commodity is expensive as they are not grown everywhere.

Plant Products

Plant products include the growing of fruits, flowers, mangoes, tobacco, sugarcane as well as vegetables. This category also plays a major role in any agricultural industry.

Seeds

Seeds form the very base of many commodities in the agricultural industry. The production of vegetable seeds are the most common seeds produced.

Processed food

Canned food, frozen food, ice creams, and pickles are a fast going industry of its own. However, they form a very small part of the bigger picture, which is the entire agricultural industry. Processed food comes in various kinds. While some can be eaten directly, others may need a little preparation.

Spices

Spices are essential in all recipes. Though the quantity of using them may differ from region to region, it still is an essential commodity.  While the growth of spices is not common everywhere, its usage sure is.
