By India Today Web Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who was recently trolled for copying from a note while filling a visitor’s book, on Tuesday admitted that he does not know Hindi and English very well and is trying to learn the languages in his own humble way.

Earlier in the day, a Twitter user, Roshan Rai, shared a video of Sarma writing something on a visitor’s book by copying it. “Presenting the CM of Assam who can’t even write a paragraph in a visitor’s book without copying,” Rai captioned the video.

“I went to an Assamese medium school and am trying my best to learn Hindi and English in my own humble way. I must admit that I do not know English and Hindi very well, and I have no hesitation in admitting it,” the chief minister said.

After Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader’s response, Rai again reacted to the tweet and said that Assamese is a beautiful language and there is no problem with language, adding it’s just about him copying the text.

“Assamese is a beautiful language, the visitor’s book would have looked much better with a note in Assamese,” Rai wrote.

“There was no compulsion of Writing it only in English or Hindi, but copying something is unbecoming of a leader of your stature. Leaders are meant to inspire innovation, not copy,” he added.
