By Jaykishan Sharma: One person has been booked in Rajasthan’s Jalore on Tuesday for thrashing a member of the Dalit boy’s family who was allegedly killed for drinking water from a pot in a private school in August this year.

The boy’s family, in their complaint, had said the boy was beaten to death for touching a drinking water pot.

The boy’s uncle, Motaram Meghwal, sustained injuries in the attack and is currently receiving treatment in a hospital in Jalore. He was attacked over a land dispute.

Jalore Superintendent of Police Harsh Vardhan Agarwalla met with the injured and recorded his statements.

A case has been registered under section 307 (attempt to murder) of Indian Penal Code and other relevant sections of SC/ST Act at Sayla police station against the two miscreants on the basis of a complaint by the dalit boy’s family.

In their complaint, the family claimed that Motaram was attacked by two people whom he identified as Dungar Singh and Jaalam Singh. Motaram Meghwal sustained serious injuries to his head and legs and is currently admitted to a trauma centre in Jalore.

Meanwhile, Dewaram Meghawl, the dalit boy’s father and brother of Motaram, has claimed that the two persons detained kept calling his brother in a bid to get through to him. Dewaram also alleged that the accused had planned to murder him since the “water pot incident.”
