At the Kolkata Airport, two travellers returning from overseas tested positive for the coronavirus illness, according to airport sources on Monday, news agency ANI reported.
Genome sequencing has been requested for both samples.
The female traveler with a British passport had flown from Kuala Lumpur to Kolkata. The other traveler, came from Dubai. He reportedly lives in Bihar and arrived back on Monday.
The British individual has reportedly been sent to the Beliaghata ID Hospital’s isolation unit, according to news agency PTI. The passenger has undergone an RT-PCR test.
The Beliaghata ID Hospital holds its patients in isolation.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has started conducting random post-arrival testing for international arrivals at the Delhi Airport as a result of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s advisory “Guidelines for International Arrivals,” according to Dr. Gauri Agarwal, the founder of Genestrings Diagnostic Center, on Sunday.

As per the latest government directives, starting on December 24 at the Delhi Airport, 2% of all passengers arriving at foreign airports must submit to random post-arrival testing. To lessen the possibility of the new COVID-19 version BF.7 entering India, this is being done.
