Congress leader Meghna Patel was arrested by Gujarat Police after the cops seized liquor worth lakhs on Thursday. Further investigations in the matter is underway.

Police officials are investigating if there were any past instances when the Congress leader brought a consignment of alcohol.
By Saurabh Vaktania: Gujarat Police arrested Congress leader Meghna Patel on Thursday in the alcohol seizure case. Meghna Patel was arrested after the cops seized liquor worth Rs 10 lakh.
“We had a tip-off about alcohol smuggling in a Bolero car. The car was to pass from the Piplod road area. Our team laid a proper trap, and as the car approached, we intercepted the car,” said a senior police officer from the Umra police station.
According to the police, the person driving a car, on being inspected, revealed that foreign liquor worth over Rs 7.5 lakh was brought for Meghna Patel.

“We made further seizures through Meghna Patel. Alcohol worth Rs 10 lakh is seized,” said the officer.
The officer further said that Meghna Patel was the former vice president of the Mahila Pradesh Congress.
Police officials are investigating if there were any past instances when the Congress leader brought a consignment of alcohol. The cops are also tracking the person to whom the consignment was sold.
“We have registered a case under the prohibition act and arrested Meghna Patel, and driver of the car. Further investigations in the matter is underway,” said the police.
