By India Today Web Desk: Madhya Pradesh minister Govind Singh Rajput, on Sunday, said that the Congress government would not have gone out of power in Madhya Pradesh had Digvijaya Singh been the chief minister instead of Kamal Nath.
“Had Digvijaya Singh been the CM of MP perhaps the government of Congress wouldn’t have gone out of power. The nature of Kamal Nath caused harm to Congress,” said Madhya Pradesh minister Govind Singh Rajput.
He further added that there is a “vast difference between the working style of Digvijaya Singh and Kamal Nath.”
Govind Singh Rajput was inducted into the Kamal Nath cabinet as Minister of Revenue & Transport in Madhya Pradesh in December 2018. However, he resigned from the party and sided with the BJP during 2020 Madhya Pradesh political crisis.
In March 2020, just 15 months after the Congress came to power in Madhya Pradesh, Kamal Nath resigned as chief minister because the party did not have the numbers required to prove majority in the house. As many as 22 MLAs had rebelled against the chief minister and the party, and camped at a Bengaluru resort. The Supreme Court then mandated a floor test.
After his resignation precipitated the fall of the Congress government in Madhya Pradesh, Kamal Nath had famously said, “Mera kya kasuur tha (What was my fault)?” He had also accused the BJP of “conspiring against his government”.
