The functioning of the Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission Hamirpur was suspended with immediate effect after an employee was arrested for leaking question paper for the recruitment exam for the junior office assistant’s post.

By Lalit Sharma: Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led state government has suspended the functioning of the Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission (HPSSC) Hamirpur, with immediate effect in view of the increasing instances of question paper leak for the post of junior office assistant (IT).
The move comes after the vigilance department arrested an employee of the Himachal Pradesh State Staff Selection Commission here in connection with the junior office assistant JOA (IT) exam paper leak case. The exam, which was scheduled to be held on December 25, was called off.
While interacting with media, Naresh Chauhan, principal advisor (media) to CM Sukku, said they have come to know that the malpractice of question paper leaking had been going on for quite some time and prima facie, it appeared that the commission did not discharge its duties and responsibilities in a transparent manner.

Chauhan said the state government was committed to ensure zero tolerance against corruption and has taken the decision to suspend the HPSSC Hamirpur make sure there is complete transparency in the functioning of the commission. He also said the move would help instil faith of job-seeking aspirants in the recruitment agencies.
“Based on the directions of the Chief Minister, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to probe the alleged malpractices in the past exams conducted by HPSSC. The team will be led by the deputy inspector general of the State Vigilance Anti Corruption Bureau G Sivakumar and assisted by three superintendents of police, four additional superintendents of police, three deputy superintendents of police and other senior officers,” said Chauhan.
He added that a separate technical team has also been constituted to assist the ongoing investigation in Hamirpur.
