According to police, Mahesh was imprisoned in November after he was found guilty in a theft case. He came out on bail in February and called the girl to meet him. The girl refused to meet Mahesh, stating that she was in love with another boy and didn’t want to have any relationship with him.
Infuriated by the girl’s rejection, Mahesh nursed a grudge against her and decided to kill her three days before he attacked the two sisters.
Police said that Mahesh called the girl to meet him for one last time during Jawara Visarjan on Thursday. When the girl went to meet him with her younger sister, Mahesh fatally attacked both of them with a knife.
