‘Joker: Folie à Deux’: Todd Phillips announces wrap of Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix starrer; shares

Four months after beginning work on Joker: Folie a Deux, director Todd Phillips has announced the wrap of the highly anticipated sequel.
Taking to his Instagram handle, the director posted intriguing new looks of Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix. “That’s a wrap. Thanks to these two (+ the entire cast) and the BEST crew that the film industry has to offer. From top to bottom,” he wrote.

“Gonna crawl into a cave now (edit room) and put it all together,” he added.
Gaga is presumed to be playing Harleen Quinzel, a psychiatrist at Gotham City’s Arkham Asylum who went by the name Harley Quinn after falling in love with the Joker. Joaquin returns as Arthur Fleck, aka The Joker.

The wrap comes just a day after the two actors were spotted filming a song sequence on the same staircase where Phoenix’s titular character boogied down in the 2019 film. Gaga, a 13-time Grammy Award winner showed off her singing prowess as she filmed the movie in New York City.

In pictures and videos taken by onlookers, Gaga ascended the graffiti-laced staircase and busted a few moves with Phoenix waiting at the bottom of the stairs. The singer was heard crooning lines from Arthur Schwartz and Howard Dietz’s ‘That’s Entertainment’.

Plot details are still kept under wraps, but it has been reported that the film would be a musical.

Zazie Beets will reprise her role as Sophie Dumond, while Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland and Harry Lawtey have been cast in undisclosed roles.

‘Joker 2’ is rumoured to bring on another famed Batman villain – Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face.

The film is slated to arrive in theatres on October 4, 2024.
