Kanjhawala-Like Accident In UP, Minor Cyclist Dragged By Car After Collision. Driver Held

New Delhi: In a Kanjhawala-like accident, a cyclist was dragged by a car for some distance after a collision in Uttar Pradesh’s Kotwali city area, officials said.

“Due to a collision between a cycle and a car in the Kotwali city area, the cyclist’s leg got stuck in the car and he was dragged by the car for some distance. The minor victim was admitted to a hospital and the car driver was taken into custody,” Circle Officer, Baghauli, Hardoi informed on Friday, as per news agency ANI.

He said that action will be taken as per law.

The incident bears similarity with the Kanjhawala case in Delhi where a girl named Anjali was killed in the early hours of the New Year after her scooter was hit by a car that dragged her for 12 km from Sultanpuri to Kanjhawala. Nidhi, who was riding pillion on Anjali’s scooter at the time of the accident, fell to the side and fled the spot after the accident because she was “scared”.

In the Delhi case, police initially arrested Deepak Khanna (26), Amit Khanna (25), Krishan (27), Mithun (26), and Manoj Mittal in the case. Later, they zeroed in on Ashutosh and Ankush Khanna based on findings through CCTV footage and call detail records as they were reportedly found to be involved in shielding the accused.

Ankush surrendered on Friday evening at Sultanpuri police station while Ashutosh was nabbed from the Budh Vihar area in northwest Delhi.

Fresh CCTV footage emerged where Nidhi and Anjali are seen on a scooter with a man. The person could be seen dropping them off near Anjali’s residence. In another footage, both the women go to the house of the deceased and later proceed towards the hotel for the party.

Meanwhile, more details in the Kotwali city area matter are awaited.
