At the song launch event, the filmmaker revealed that the mehendi in Alia Bhatt’s hand in the film is from her real wedding with Ranbir Kapoor. Karan shared that they shot the part in the film just four days after her actual wedding in April last year.
Further, the filmmaker showered praise on the actress.He revealed that when he saw Alia performing in ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, he couldn’t believe that she is the same ‘Shanaya‘ from her debut film, ‘Student Of The Year’. According to the director, he was absolutely in awe of her and stated that she was an amazing actor to collaborate with.
Alia too opened up about her wedding scene in the film and said, “Both my weddings – real wedding and the one in the film were different. My wedding at home was very simple. When Rocky and Rani were taking pheras. We were confused that ladka aage jaata hai ya ladki. And I was like…main abhi abhi shadi karke aayi hoon. Mujhe pata hai.”
She further added, “In the film’s varmala sequence there were people to pick up Ranveer and nobody was there to pick me up. And then Ranveer goes on his knees and I put the varmala on him. That is exactly what happened during my own wedding with Ranbir. I shot for the wedding sequence in the film just four days after my own wedding. So there were many similarities.”
Karan even went on to add that he might have launched her but her professional launch was ‘Highway’ where she starred alongside Randeep Hooda. The actress received immense love and appreciation for her performance in the Imtiaz Ali directorial.
‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ marked the first collaboration between Ranveer Singh and Karan Johar. Meanwhile, Ranveer and Alia worked together earlier in Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Gully Boy’.
