By India Today News Desk: BJP National General Secretary and Telangana BJP State Incharge Tarun Chugh on Wednesday condemned the “illegal arrest” of state BJP president and MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar.

In a press release, Tarun Chugh said, “I strongly condemn the illegal arrest of Bandi Sanjay Kumar last night. The failure of the police to disclose the reason for the arrest points out the rampant misuse of power in which police have become a tool.”

“The arrest of Bandi Sanjay evidences the fact that KCR is rattled by the continuous exposure of his government and his failure to conduct even 10th class exams, close on the heels of the leakage of TSPSC papers,” said the Telangana BJP State Incharge.

He alleged that the Telangana Police dragged Bandi Sanjay from his home.

“The people of Telangana will soon teach this despotic government a befitting lesson. The BJP national leadership has taken this brazen attempt very seriously and KCR will pay heavily for his sins,” added Chugh.

Telangana BJP president and MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar was detained after midnight on Wednesday from his residence in Karimnagar ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state.

Reportedly, a team of police reached the MP’s residence in Karimnagar and took him into custody, reported news agency ANI.

BJP State General Secretary Premender Reddy said, “BJP state president Bandi Sanjay was detained by police past midnight. He has been held from his residence in Karimnagar illegally.”

“They should have initiated any legal process in the morning. Where would Bandi Sanjay go? This is nothing but to disturb PM Modi’s programme in Telangana,” Reddy alleged.

This comes when Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the state on April 8. The prime minister will visit Telangana to inaugurate the Vande Bharat Express train from Secunderabad to Tirupati.
