Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday ridiculed social media speculations that he was being “replaced”, saying some people fond of social media have hobby to change the chief minister before they go to sleep every night. Speaking as a chief guest at state-level ‘Lord Parshuram Mahakumbh’, Khattar said, “This CM is going, he is going and tomorrow the new Chief Minister will come. Whether the new CM will come or not, you want work to be delivered.”
“Any CM or PM, who comes from the BJP will work in people’s interest, this is part of our ideology, this is part of our achievements, this is part of our manifesto,” he said, adding “we all work as a team and we take collective decisions.”
“Such decisions are not taken by what is going on in social media. But yes, there are people who derive pleasure from such things. To those people, I want to say when you are tired of doing this, you should come to me, I will tell you some work to do..,” the senior BJP leader said.
Addressing the event, BJP MP from Rohtak Arvind Sharma said that the next chief minister in the state should be from the Brahmin community.
“I am not saying that Khattar ji be replaced. He may remain CM for the next 10 years, but it is my personal opinion and request to the party high command that the next CM after Khattar should be from Brahmin community,” Sharma said.
The chief minister took a jibe at Arvind Sharma saying that he was thankful that he wanted to see him as Haryana CM for the next 10 years.
“I express gratitude to him (Arvind) that he has expressed desire to see me as CM for ten years..,” Khattar said.
The Haryana chief minister announced a slew of sops in an attempt to appease the Brahmin community and also declared a gazetted holiday on Parhsuram Jayanti. Khattar, a former RSS pracharak and a second-time MLA from Karnal, was picked as the state chief minister by BJP, when it came to power for the first time in Haryana on its own strength in 2014.
