Lacks political clarity: DMK mouthpiece as Governor seeks liquor tragedy report

By Pramod Madhav: The mouthpiece of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), Murasoli, took a potshot at Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, claiming that the governor lacks political clarity and knowledge about history over a report he sought on the twin spurious liquor tragedy.

The editorial in the mouthpiece said that Governor Ravi sought a report on the twin spurious liquor tragedy, in which 22 people died after drinking spurious liquor in Tamil Nadu’s Villupuram and Chengalpattu districts and claimed that it was not wrong on his part, but the way he did so was not right either.

“There is nothing wrong with the Governor asking for a report, but the way he asked for it shows how he spews venom. Instead of calling senior government officials over the phone or in person, he released a statement and sent it to the media and childishly believed that he had achieved something great,” Murasoli said.

The mouthpiece also questioned if the governors of BJP-ruled Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh sought such mischievous reports.

“Governor Ravi keeps forgetting about the moment he walked out of the Assembly with a dark face. He keeps on acting childish and faces backlash. If Governor Ravi wants to be in the limelight, let him resign. It is only apt to stop acting in such a manner, bringing disregard to the position of the Governor,” stated Murasoli.

AIADMK leader Edapadi K Palanisamy announced that he’d lead a rally towards Raj Bhavan on May 22 and meet the Governor, demanding action over the death of 22 men in Vilkupuram and Chengalpattu after consuming spurious liquor.
