By India Today Web Desk: The promoter of Oreva Group, Jaysukh Patel, was among 10 people named in a chargesheet filed by police on Friday in the suspension bridge collapse incident that killed 135 in Gujarat’s Morbi in October last year. The chargesheet runs into over 1,200 pages.

Patel is the latest addition to the list of the accused and the nine others are already behind bars, PTI quoted sources as saying. An arrest warrant by a magistrate’s court is already out against Patel and hearing on anticipatory bail plea is slated for February 1.

The chargesheet was filed in the Morbi sessions court by Deputy Superintendent of Police P S Zala, the investigating officer of the bridge-collapse case.

Patel’s Ajanta Manufacturing Ltd (Oreva Group) was responsible for the operation and maintenance of the British-era suspension bridge on the Machchhu river that had collapsed.

The Gujarat High Court had on Wednesday agreed to the Oreva group’s offer to pay compensation to the relatives of the victims but said it wouldn’t absolve it of any liability.

Patel made an appearance in the high court after the police issued an arrest warrant against him and also issued a lookout circular.
