Parts of north India brace for rains as cold wave eases in Delhi, Rajasthan

As a slight increase in the minimum temperatures eased the cold wave conditions in Delhi and Rajasthan, the weather office has predicted rainfall in several parts of northern India this week.

By India Today Web Desk: As the slight increase in the minimum temperatures has brought respite from the cold wave conditions in Delhi and Rajasthan, the weather office has predicted rainfall in several parts of northern India this week due to the western cyclonic disturbances.

Meanwhile, snowfall in hill states, such as Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, and Kashmir and Uttarakhand, continues to woo travelers despite the difficulty in communication.

RAJASTHAN NIGHT TEMPERATURES GO UP

Most places in Rajasthan witnessed a slight increase in minimum temperatures, a Met Office spokesperson said. Sirohi was the coldest place in the state, recording a night temperature of 2.8 degrees Celsius, followed by Karauli at 5.2 degrees.

The night temperature in Churu was recorded at 5.5 degrees Celsius, Jaisalmer at 6.7 degrees, Dholpur and Dabok at 7 degrees each, Alwar at 7.3 degrees, Chittorgarh at 7.5 degrees and Sangaria and Sriganganagar at 7.8 degrees each.

The weather office has forecast light to moderate rainfall in isolated places of Bharatpur, Kota, Jaipur, Udaipur, and Ajmer divisions in the next two to three days.

SHALLOW FOG, MINIMUM TEMPERATURE AT 9 DEGREES CELSIUS IN DELHI

The national capital on Sunday recorded a maximum temperature of 24 degrees Celsius, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. The minimum temperature was recorded at 8.2 degrees Celsius, one notch above normal, they said.

According to IMD, light to moderate rainfall is expected in the city this week.

The humidity oscillated between 97 to 51 per cent, they said. The weather office has forecast shallow fog for Monday with the minimum and maximum temperatures likely to settle around 9 degrees and 24 degrees Celsius, respectively.

FOGGY CONDITIONS, DRIZZLE IN PARTS OF MP

People in parts of Madhya Pradesh, including the capital Bhopal, woke up to a foggy Sunday morning, while Rewa and Satna districts in the eastern part of the state recorded drizzles, an official from the India Meteorological Department said.

Due to a western disturbance over northern parts of India, an induced cyclonic circulation formed over south-west Rajasthan which was causing south-easterly and at times southerly winds, IMD’s Bhopal office senior meteorologist HS Pandey told PTI.

RAINS OVER PARTS OF NORTH INDIA LIKELY THIS WEEK

According to the India Meteorological Department’s latest weather bulletin, on January 23 (Monday) thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely at isolated places in Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh.

On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, thunderstorms along with lightning and hail are likely at isolated places over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh with lightning at isolated places over west Uttar Pradesh, the Met Office said, adding heavy rainfall was likely at isolated places over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
