Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to express condolences over the stampede deaths during a TDP roadshow in Nellore on Wednesday. He further announced that the family of the deceased and the injured would be compensated.

By India Today Web Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed shock and condolence over the deaths and injuries due to a stampede at a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) rally on Wednesday night in Nellore.
The Prime Minister announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakhs to the families of the deceased and a compensation of Rs 50,00 for the injured. PM Modi also expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased. The compensation will be given from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF), added Narendra Modi.
Taking to Twitter, PM Modi said, “Pained by the mishap at a public meeting in Nellore, AP. Condolences to the bereaved families. May the injured recover soon. An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased and the injured would be given Rs 50,000.”
STAMPEDE AT NELLORE
As many as eight people died and five others were injured in a stampede on Wednesday. The stampede happened during TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu’s roadshow in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh.
The stampede broke out as Chandrababu Naidu arrived at Kandukur. Three people died on the spot due to suffocation and two died while being taken to the hospital. Two more TDP workers died while undergoing treatment. A few people fell into a sewage canal as well.
Upon reaching the hospital to meet the injured party workers, Chandrababu Naidu announced Rs 10 lakh compensation for the kin of the deceased and added that the education of their children would be funded by the NTR trust.
