Pooja Bhatt on MM Keeravani’s big Oscar win: Its about time the world woke up to his genius –

‘Naatu Naatu’ from SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ has created history as it first won a Golden Globe and now an Oscar award. It certainly can’t get bigger than that. The entire country is lauding the victory of team RRR and that of music composer MM Keeravani (fondly called MM Kreem) who is the man behind the song.
Pooja Bhatt has worked with Keeravani as a producer on multiple projects. Reacting to the composer winning the prestigious Academy Award, Pooja expressed, “About time the world woke up to the genius that is MM Kreem. We always maintained that he was the most underrated music director in India – especially in Hindi cinema. This win will make a whole new generation go back and rediscover the wealth and gems he has given us in the past. ‘Zakhm’, ‘Sur’, ‘Jism’, ‘Rog’ and ‘Dhokha’… Kreem sir gave us melodies to sustain and last a lifetime and not merely chartbusters that tend to disappear from public consciousness in a couple of months. I am thrilled for him and grateful that life gave me the opportunity to do five films with him as a producer!”

MM Keeravani has also given Pooja one of her most memorable songs as an actor – ‘Gali Mein Aaj Chand Nikla’ from ‘Zakhm’ (1998).
Reminiscing memories from decades ago, the actress added, “Gali mein aaj chand nikla is an anthem..one that resonates across the world year after year. The simplicity and sheer melody of it defines MM Kreem. He composes from his heart, which is why his music remains in our hearts.”
Apart from ‘Naatu Naatu’s’ win at the Oscars, Pooja also shared her happiness for Guneet Monga’s ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ and stated, “I am thrilled for ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ and Guneet especially. I shall watch it at the earliest.”
