Earlier on March 24, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi was disqualified as Lok Sabha MP a day after a Surat court sentenced the Wayanad MP to two-year jail in a 2019 criminal defamation case. Rahul Gandhi was convicted over his “why all thieves have Modi surname” remark.
Responding to this, his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took to Twitter alleging that the Prime Minister’s followers insulted her family and the whole Kashmiri Pandit community.
Calling her brother Rahul Gandhi a true patriot, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi claimed that Rahul Gandhi was sentenced to two-year imprisonment for questioning Adani’s loot.
Rahul Gandhi had last appeared before the Surat court in the case, filed under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 499 and 500 (dealing with defamation), in October 2021 to record his statement.
