By Satyajeet Kumar: Clashes broke out between police and family members of Bajrang Dal leader Kamdeldev Giri, who was killed in a petrol bomb attack, in Jharkhand’s Chaibasa on Thursday. The family members of Giri were sitting on a protest demanding a CBI inquiry into the death and narco test analysis of the arrested accused.
The kin of the victim alleged the police of assaulting them when they were sitting on a hunger strike in Chaibasa. It has been alleged that the police assaulted the family members of Kamaldev Giri who were on fast in Chaibasa on Thursday evening.

Kamaldev Giri, a 35-year-old Bajrang Dal activist, was killed in November after unidentified motorcycle-borne miscreants allegedly hurled crude bombs at him near Bharat Bhawan Chowk, the main thoroughfare of Chakradharpur town, sparking tension in the town.
Giri’s sister has filed a complaint against Niranjan Tiwari for allegedly assaulting and misbehaving with her.

In her police complaint, she said, “Chaibasa police station-in charge reached the protest site and started misbehaving with the people present there. He thrashed me and misbehaved with me and also attacked my brother.”
After the incident, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ananya Mittal met Pooja Giri and assured her that the narco test of the accused in Kamaldev Giri murder case will be conducted following the legal procedure. The faces of all the accused caught in the murder case will also be shown to the victim’s family.
The officer also assured Pooja Giri that if the police have misbehaved with her, then this matter will also be investigated and action will be taken against the guilty police personnel. Pooja Giri was convinced by DC Ananya Mittal’s assurance, she said that DC has accepted her two demands.
WHO IS KAMALDEV GIRI?
Kamaldev Giri, a 35-year-old Bajrang Dal leader, was attacked from behind on Saturday by unidentified bike-borne miscreants who allegedly hurled crude bombs at him. He fell on the spot after a bomb hit him on the head. The miscreants fled the spot after attacking Giri.
The local people immediately rushed Giri to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. Following his death, tension flared in the town and his supporters gathered outside the hospital. The SP and DC camped in Chakradharpur on Saturday night to ensure that no unwanted incidents take place.
Kamaldev Giri was a member of Bajrang Dal and also started an organisation named Giriraj Sena. In the last municipal election, he emerged as a formidable opponent to the other candidates after winning a large number of votes.
He had plans to contest for the city council president’s post in the next election. His supporters are claiming that his death was a political conspiracy as he would have won a landslide victory against his opponents. Sources said Kamaldev Giri was to be inducted into the BJP soon.
