Protesters disrupt Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’ shoot near Jabalpur – Times of India

The controversy surrounding Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film ‘Pathaan’ continues to hog headlines. On Friday, a group of Karni Sena members and other Hindu outfits protested against the use of saffron colour in Deepika Padukone’s costume in the ‘Pathaan’ song ‘Besharam Rang’. The protesters gathered at large also disrupted the shooting of Shah Rukh’s ‘Dunki’ at Bhedaghat near Jabalpur.

Holding black and saffron flags in their hands the Karni Sena members raised slogans for hours and also were seen chanting Hanuman Chalisa. To control the situation heavy police force was deployed in Bhedaghat. The protesters insisted that the ‘Dunki’ makers have to stop shooting in 10 minutes. However, the shoot continued even after the stipulated time despite the threats.

The protesters alleged that Shah Rukh Khan and ‘Pathaan’ makers have shown the saffron colour in an “indecent and objectionable” way in the film and it won’t be tolerated. They further demanded that the shooting of these kinds of movies has to be stopped on the banks of the holy river Narmada. The protestors further insisted that the film shooting spot has to be purified by spraying it with cow’s urine (Gomutra). Meanwhile, not just in Bhedaghat but Karni Sena also held a protest against ‘Pathan’ in Lucknow.

For the unversed, ‘Besharam Rang’ from the much-awaited Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Pathan’ was released earlier this week. The song, in the voice of Shilpa Rao, Caralisa Monteiro, Vishal and Shekhar, has been shot in an exotic location with Deepika Padukone appearing in some stunning bikinis. However, her orange bikini kicked up a social media storm from many Hindu outfits and leaders as they claimed the song has insulted the saffron colour and Hindu sentiments.
