Punjab Police has asked the Amritsar district administration to cancel the arms licences of nine aides of Amritpal Singh, claiming that the arms licences were given for self-defence and not for providing security cover to the Khalistani leader.

By Kamaljit Sandhu: Days after the storming of a police station in Ajnala, Punjab Police cracked down on the aides of Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh and recommended that their arms licenses be cancelled.
Police have written to the Amritsar district administration, according to sources.
Police recommended the cancelation of arms licenses of nine aides of Amritpal Singh, claiming that the licences were given for self-defence and not to provide security cover to the Khalistani leader.

AJNALA INCIDENT
Waris Punjab De head Amritpal Singh and his supporters, some of them brandishing swords and guns, broke through barricades and barged into a police station in Ajnala on the outskirts of Amritsar city on February 24. They extracted an assurance from the police that Amritpl Singh’s aide and kidnapping case accused Lovepreet Singh Toofan would be released. Six policemen were injured in the clashes.
After the Ajnala incident, the AAP government and the Punjab Police chief have come under fire from opposition parties for giving in to Amritpal Singh’s demands and not taking any action against him and his supporters.
