NEW DELHI: BJP on Tuesday said Rahul Gandhi, in his speeches in the UK, has insulted India’s democracy, Parliament, political system and people of India, including justice system and strategic security.
On Rahul calling RSS “fundamentally fascist”, I&B minister Anurag Thakur said: “RSS is a volunteer organisation which works in every field for national unity and integrity. I would say Rahul Gandhi should also attend RSS camps, he will learn a lot.”

BJP on Tuesday said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, in his speeches in the UK Parliament, insulted India’s democracy, Parliament, political system and people of India, including justice system and strategic security, said senior party leader Ravi Shankar Prasad.
Asked about Rahul’s remarks on RSS and BJP, Union I&B minister Anurag Thakur said in an interview: “RSS is a volunteer organisation which works in every field for national unity and integrity. RSS has made major contributions to the nation.”
“I would say Rahul Gandhi should also attend RSS camps, he will learn a lot…,” the BJP leader said. He said PM Narendra Modi also comes from RSS. “Look at his dedication, since 2001 he has not taken a single day off,” he said.
Prasad said it’s utterly shameful that Rahul, from a foreign land, has tried to hurt the spirits of India’s consensus on the subject that no foreign country must intervene in India’s internal affairs. “It is our clear conviction that Rahul Gandhi is completely in the group of Maoist and Marxist thought process. Otherwise, how will someone say something like this?”
Prasad added: “We ask Congress president Mr Kharge if you feel that you are an elected president of Congress, do you support this irresponsible and shameful comment of Rahul Gandhi that ‘America and Europe must intervene in India to restore democracy’? If you don’t support Rahul Gandhi’s statement, disown it.”
Prasad further said: “Sonia Gandhiji, BJP will like to urge you to make your stand very clear – where do you stand in the face of this utterly irresponsible statement of your son…?”
Union minister Kiren Rijiju slammed the Congress MP for his remark that “opposition leaders’ microphones are often switched off in Parliament” saying it is Gandhi who speaks the most in the House. BJP MP Vivek Thakur slammed Rahul over his address at Cambridge and accused him of being an “agenda carrier” of another country.
